STEM the Gap Academy is a revolution! We are eliminating the gender divide and ensuring that girls take their rightful places in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Fields, which have long been male-dominated. This rigged and misogynistic system, which was designed to favour and keep men at the top, is not acceptable and we are calling it out!
At STEM the Gap Academy, we are a group of Women in STEM, who have seen our fair share of injustices and challenges and we are not playing nice anymore! We are raising a generation of girls who are skillful, but who are also fierce, persistent, resilient and hopeful to be a part of a future, full of innovation and progress, that they too have had a hand in building.
Why STEM the Gap Academy?
The Gender Gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Fields has gone on for too long and we refuse to negotiate with a broken system anymore! It’s time for misogyny and male-dominated industries everywhere to be history!
At STEM the Gap Academy, we teach girls to be fearless and to no longer ask for permission to take their rightful places in the world, and particularly in the world of STEM. The future should not and will not belong to one gender, acting as gatekeepers. All girls (cis, trans or genderqueer) are a force of nature and we teach them the tangible skills they need for tomorrow, as well as the confidence to own their power and step out, speak up and STEM the Gap!
At STEM the Gap Academy, we help girls understand what they’re actually up against and we teach them everything they need to thrive, own their power and bring down the systems that attempt to undermine them. We will not lose yet another generation of girls in STEM to the patriarchy.

Truth
We tell girls the truth of what they’re up against. We prepare them by explaining that reality of the injustices currently embedded in the system.
Representation
Our educators are Women in STEM and we model that for all of our students. If girls see it modelled before them, they understand that it is possible for them also.
Mastery
We equip girls by giving them an in-depth education and understanding of the various disciplines so they are incredibly skilled and love the process of learning.
Mission
We teach them the importance of self-worth, confidence, grit, and focus when it comes to taking on and tearing down systemic injustice.

Chess has long been a male-dominated sport and boys have long tried to keep girls out of the game, deciding that they’re not worthy enough opponents.
